Hans Peters founded the

Hans Peters founded the Inter-County Soccer League (ICSL) in the summer of 1960.  Initially, six clubs made up the entire league and there was only a single age group: U-13 boys.  Girls’ soccer was introduced to league play in the spring of 1973 with a single 12-team division.  At that time, age brackets typically covered two age groups.

Since those early days, the ICSL has grown to be the largest travel soccer league in Southeastern Pennsylvania.  There are currently 90 active member clubs.  Of the six founding clubs, only one is still active: Lower Southampton.

The ICSL fields over 800 teams, totaling approximately 11,000 players, who participate in four groups: Youth (U-8 to U-19), Juniors (U-15 to U-19), and a U23 League.  League play for our Youth and Junior League’s are primarily during the Fall, early Winter and Spring seasons. U23 is our Summer league.

The main territorial draw for the ICSL is Bucks, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties. However, there is representation from as far as Berks, Chester, Lancaster, Lehigh and Northampton counties.

ICSL is affiliated with Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer (EPYS) and Eastern Pennsylvania Soccer Association (EPSA).
